Our Culture Explained… READ MORE
At Focus School Stoke by Nayland Campus we have created an outstanding culture, which combined with our SDL approach to learning, will enable us to achieve long term sustainable success.
We have created a Squad SBN culture brand and a Culture Statement which all members of Squad SBN have signed. Our Culture Statement is explained in more detail in ‘Our Culture Explained’ document. At SBN we work towards our goals as a cohesive team. Our culture is all about our stakeholder groups working closely together and the values, principles and behaviours that we expect to see embraced by everyone in our team, both on and off our campus.
As a team of happy students, teachers and parents we care about each other, we respect each other, we believe that together we can exceed expectations, have fun, work hard and enjoy learning.
We expect everyone to have high expectations of themselves. This includes the desire to be academically successful, to behave appropriately, to attend school and to take pride in your uniform/dress code. We reward everyone who works hard, is successful, conducts themselves with decorum and who is successful in our One School Skills. These are academic achievement, leadership, involvement in the school, fulfilling potential and management. Celebrating success is a big part of our culture and we hold special Awards assemblies every Friday morning and Staff Awards every half-term.
Student leadership & involvement in school life is essential. We have an extensive Student Leadership Team and these members are key to improving our school and raising expectations. This is a very exciting time to be at Stoke by Nayland. Benjamin Franklin once said “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” This is the essence of our Squad SBN team brand and our learning to learn principles.
